Art Quilts

12" x 9" I created this quilt for a self-portrait exhibit. Using Adobe Photoshop, I applied various alternations to this photo. While I enjoy traditional media for artwork, and very much enjoy painting, dyeing, monoprinting, airbrushing, etc. to create fabric, a good part of my day is spent using software to create digital images — making me often feel like a "pixel pusher." This image represents the RGB color mode I tend to work in and me pixelating in and out, surrounded by the world of zeros and ones. It is printed on silk fabric with archival pigment inkjet ink, machine quilted, and mounted on plexiglass (the fulll mounting is not shown). In addition to the self-portrait exhibit, it has also been displayed in other exhibitions. |
